SiteGround is one of the best web hosting providers founded by a group of friends in Bulgaria on March 22, 2004. As far as we know, SiteGround hosts over 2 million domains worldwide. They have got a wide range of pricing, not so cheap obviously, but worthy. Their headquarters is located in Sofia, Bulgaria.
SiteGround’s founder, Ivo Tzenov’s, strong entrepreneurial skills made SiteGround one of the industry-leading web hosting providers, and for the past few years, Tenko Nikolov, SiteGround’s CEO was the mastermind behind SiteGround’s success. As of 2019, SiteGround employed over 500 people.
One of the best things about SiteGround is that they have Datacenters in various locations and they are registered in the USA, UK, Bulgaria, and Spain. Their Datacenters are located in Sydney (AU), Singapore (SG), Frankfort (DE), Eemshaven (NL), London (UK), and Iowa (USA).

SiteGround Hosting Types
As I said earlier, SiteGround is not cheap, at least not anymore. Still, they are worth every penny you pay. They have a wide range of hosting types and deliver excellent quality and value with anything you choose.
They have shared hosting, managed WordPress hosting, WooCommerce hosting, Cloud hosting, Reseller hosting, and Enterprise hosting.
Their shared hosting managed WordPress and WooCommerce plans start at $6.99 per month with identical features for all types.
SiteGround’s Cloud hosting plans start at $80 per month with dedicated servers and IP addresses. They have one of the industry-leading speeds with their Cloud hosting services.
SiteGround’s Reseller hosting has only one plan with a white-labeling feature and will cost you $14.99 per month. You will be able to remove SiteGround’s logo on your clients’ dashboard.
And last but not least, here comes SiteGround’s Enterprise hosting or 100% managed dedicated hosting. They do not have pricing plans for their Enterprise hosting, so you will tell them about the amount of money you are able to pay and what features you are looking for.
With any plan that you choose, you will be able to choose an application for your sites such as WordPress (Recommended by us), Drupal, Joomla, and Magneto.
SiteGround Uptime and Performance
I always say this, “Uptime is the most important thing about a hosting provider”. If your site is down, you will obviously lose too much traffic and low traffic means lower sales. You don’t want this, right?
SiteGround is definitely not going to let you and your site down. SiteGround has an average of 99.99% uptime as the average uptime for a host is about 99.95%. This is will guarantee that your website is up and running around the clock and will keep your visitors or readers happy. So you won’t lose any sales due to being down.
One of the best things about SiteGround is that they use their own handcrafted solutions to avoid any downtimes, such as:
- Using Linux Containers
SiteGround built their existing platform using the highly resource-efficient Linux Containers Technology (LXC), which is stable as a rock even during unexpected traffic surges.
- Using Secure Account Isolation Technology
Where most web hosting companies see impossibility, SiteGround sees opportunity. They found a way to effectively isolate CHROOT accounts on shared servers (something that other web hosts thought was futile), so that each account works only in their instance, increasing server stability.
- Using their own Pro-Active Server Monitoring system
The ingenious head honchos at SiteGround had the DevOps team created an in-house server monitoring system, which not only detects and fixes current issues but has the ability to foresee future complications and take measures to avoid them.
Site speed in also a very important factor when choosing a web host.
Today people love instant results. They like to instantly find a good place for vacation, instantly pay their bills or get rapid results when trying to find a good healthy food schedule. And when a website makes them wait more and more to invite them in, guess what, they abandon the site and never come back.
Google’s research shows that if your website takes more than 2 seconds, there is a chance of an above 50% bounce rate.
Also, you can’t do much to fix a slow host, you might be able to compress images, use cache plugins, or even use a CDN, but still, your web hosting provider will let the guests down.
Although SiteGround is not the fastest host in the industry, it still has one of the fastest loading speeds. On average, SiteGround’s speed is about 319 ms which is impressive. So the faster your website, the more traffic and sales you are going to have.
SiteGround also has an optimization plugin that can do the work for 3 or 4 plugins. Amazing, right? These are some of the features of SiteGround’s Optimization plugin:
- Lazy loading images
- Combination of CSS files
- Optimization of browser cache
- GZIP Compression
- Heartbeat API
- Database optimization
The plugin will be automatically connected to your SiteGround tools and will save you too much time looking for cache and compression plugins.
With every plan that you purchase from SiteGround, a free Cloudflare CDN account will be available for you. Cloudflare CDN will help your website load faster in different parts of the world.
Fast loading time is important for everyone and for that, SiteGround comes with Cloudflare CDN integration. Cloudflare is a Content Delivery Network (CDN) or a network that serves the cached version of your website.
Translation: When someone navigates to your site, Cloudflare will send them content from a CDN point closest to them (shorter distance = shorter travel time = faster load time).
Think of it this way. If you’re in L.A. and order a pizza, do you want to have to wait for it to be delivered from Miami? Or would you rather it be delivered from somewhere near you?
With SiteGround you can simply create a Cloudflare account and connect it with your website.
The results are amazing. If you are looking for a fast and reliable hosting, I really do recommend SiteGround.
SiteGround Security and Backups
Nowadays almost all web browsers warn users about their security if the website isn’t secure or in our terms doesn’t have an SSL certificate.
SSL helps to protect any information sent back and forth between the user’s device and the website, including personal details like IP addresses or credit card numbers. If left unsecured, hackers and others could easily intercept this information. So browsers are looking out for web users’ best interest here.
So as you can see its importance, SSL certificates are crucial for every single website now. Thanks to SiteGround, they provide free SSL for every single plan, so you won’t need to pay anything extra.
There will always be conflict or bugs, and you must always have a backup plan. Sometimes your website might run into some issues and you will need to load an older version.
SiteGround will have your back (not in the Startup plan) with free on-demand backups. So there is no need to install a third-party plugin that might create conflicts or make you pay for each backup that you create.
SiteGround’s own backup system is easy to use and will let you create 5 manual backups per site, so you will have to delete and old backup if the number exceeds. And you can’t download your backups, you can just restore them.
To be noted as a plus, SiteGround will let you create and manage backups for each site individually. Backups are sure easy to be created with only a few clicks.
Note: On-demand backups feature only come with GrowBig and GoGeek plans. With the StartUp plan, you will have 30-days free backups and you will have to contact their support team to restore them for you.
I just want to include that most web hosting providers charge extra or don’t even have a good backup system, and SiteGround does an amazing job with having your back with free backups.
Doesn’t matter if you are a beginner or a professional, you might always run into issues which you will need a support team to help you out with it.
I can simply say, “SiteGround’s support is the best in the industry”. The support team is fast, reliable, professional, and always available to get you out of the mud.
They do provide a knowledge base for customers if users run into smaller issues, but still, they are available through a phone call and 24/7 live chat.
Doesn’t matter if you have pre-sale questions or technical issues, SiteGround’s support will connect with you in less than a minute.
As we tested their support, unlike other hosts, there was no noticeable delay in answers. So it seemed like he knew what he was talking about and didn’t have to look up answers each time we sent over a new question.
There is also this amazing support system that you are able to see the photo, profile, and rating of the person you are chatting with.
So I can conclude that their support is great overall for this price range. (E.g. WP Engine is a bit better, but way pricier)
SiteGround also promises a 99.9% uptime and if they don’t meet it, SiteGround will simply pay you back in 30-days. But this is only for shared hosting plans.
For Cloud and Enterprise hosting plans, they offer only 14 day money back guarantee.
SiteGround doesn’t offer any free website migrations, so you will have to pay $30 per website. (Still cheaper than some hosts, e.g. Bluehost will charge $150)
On the other hand, SiteGround also created its own migration plugin which can be uploaded to any website. You can simply generate a token from inside your SiteGround account and the plugin will do its part.
You have to do some work for the migration to be completed successfully, but the good news is that you can migrate as many websites as you want. (Most hosting providers offer free migrations, but will still make you pay after you migrate a few websites)
Still, if you needed a professional to do the migration for you, you will have to pay $30 per site.
All you have to do is to fill out the migration form, give them access to your cPanel and they will do the job in 24 hours.
Ease of Use
Most web hosting providers come with a complex dashboard and unnecessary options which makes it super hard for a newbie to get used to it or even learn it.
SiteGround comes with a friendly, clean, and easy to use interface. You can easily see the most important options and tools on the front page of the dashboard. And with SiteGround’s amazing support and assistance, you will absolutely have no problems learning the curve.
You can also create different user accounts for different websites, easily. And even white-label your dashboard if you purchase GoGeek plan.
Plans and Pricing
SiteGround’s WordPress and eCommerce hosting plans are identical. The only difference is with the pre-installed tools that you will have on your website.
SiteGround’s shared hosting plans are:
|Support||Phone, email and live chat||Phone, email and live chat||Phone, email and live chat|
|Storage||10 GB||20 GB||40 GB|
|Database||Unlimited Max. size 500MB||Unlimited Max. size 750MB||Unlimited Max. size 1000MB|
|Subdomains, FTP accounts, email accounts and bandwidth||Unlimited||Unlimited||Unlimited|

|First term price||$6.99/month||$9.99/month||$14.99/month|
The renewal pricing rates are a bit higher than the competitors but are worthy enough. Still, if you are looking for cheaper hosting, you might want to try: Bluehost, InMotion Hosting, A2 Hosting, or Hostinger.
SiteGround also offers one of the best Cloud Hosting or Dedicated hosting services in the industry with almost 100% uptime, Super-fast loading servers, and much more.
SiteGround’s Cloud hosting plans start at $80 per month and besides their plans, they have custom cloud services which will let you choose the specifications of the dedicated server that you need for your website.
SiteGround Extras and Add-Ons
Some of the eye catching features of SiteGround that I personally love are:
- Collaboration tools: these tools can help you easily manage your clients and different websites without having to worry about your clients’ management. You can easily transfer ownership of websites, give permissions to each user, and more.
- SSD Storages: SiteGround uses SSD storage on all their servers, which are 1000x faster than normal storage drives. SSD storages transfer data at an amazingly fast speed that can help your website to load blazing fast.
- 100% Renewable Energy: SiteGround’s main datacenter partner, Google Cloud, matches 100% of the energy consumed by their global operations with renewable energy and maintains a commitment to carbon neutrality.
I personally love how SiteGround kills all the headaches by using its autopilot features, so I can easily focus on my business and websites without having to worry about backups, updates, PHP versions, and much more. They have one of the industry-leading support teams and blazing fast servers. I personally recommend SiteGround, doesn’t matter if you’re a pro or a beginner, they have plans for everyone.
